As the fifth edition of the Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival approached, we knew we had to make it special! To that end, a number of new initiatives were launched which would elevate the festival to the next level. Chief among these was "Seed", a global competition of short and documentary films which added an extra day and dimension to the event. Right off the bat, we received splendid response with submissions pouring in from around the world. Seed was hosted at Ramanaidu Film School and turned out to be a resounding success.

As for the main event, fourteen carefully curated and critically acclaimed films were screened. Marathi joined us as the second guest language with Telugu and added more variety. We also hosted an exhibition of Satyajit Ray's works in association with Ray Society and the usual plethora of food, apparel and handicraft stores thronged the venue. Notable delegates included Mr. Tarun Majumdar, Ms. Swastika Mukherjee, Mrs. Rituparna Sengupta, Ms. Gargee Roy Chowdhury, Ms. Mumtaz Sorcar, Mr. Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee, Mr. Kamaleswar Mukherjee, Mr. Arghya Kamal Mitra and many others. The event was held from the 21st to the 24th of June and concluded with viewer's choice and jury awards.
