“The 6th edition of HBFF is going to be quite exciting and happening with the inclusion of 3 World Premieres, 1 India Premier, and 9 Hyderabad Premiers. We tried to include as many unreleased film as possible, because it is no more a challenge to watch new Bengali releases in Hyderabad, as it was during the inception years of HBFF in 2013-14. Now almost all major Bengali films get released in Hyderabad commercially, in prime times. So as a festival, our responsibility is to bring good, content driven Bengali films and offer the audience to watch unreleased films. A major team of delegation is coming from Bangladesh to present a film “Iti Tomar Dhaka.” At HBFF it’s our aim to present a platform for culture exchange. Therefore every year we invite other language films. This year our Guest Languages are Telugu, Kashmiri & Urdu, and Hindi. We have received short 7 documentary films across the globe, with a huge number flown in from Iran, USA, Greece, China, Bangladesh, Switzerland, Kurdish language films among other parts of the world. One Academy Award winning short film has been submitted and part of the competition. There are about 50 film personalities coming to the city to attend the event. We are bringing Indus Tale, a massive carnival of art, culture, cuisine, fashion, lifestyle, real estate, technology startups etc. at Prasad Labs campus. This exhibition will have plenty of food stalls from different tastes starting from biryani to Kolkata sweets. In a nutshell, HBFF 2019 is going to be your destination for watching films, meeting the stars, enjoying lots of lip smacking food and strengthening your wardrobe before the festive season starts in September with Dussera-Diwali,” says Partha Pratim Mallik, the Director of Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival.
